The Four Clans

Season
Current Season: Greenleaf
Greenleaf has taken hold of the forest, marking an end to the pleasantly warm days of Newleaf. The temperature is now quite hot, at times unbearably so; most prey tend to take shelter during the hottest time of the day. Dangerous thunderstorms are possible and can happen with little warning. Will the heat of Greenleaf cause tempers to flare when tension is already running high in the Clans?

1 Bristle Hollow on Sat Nov 02, 2013 7:09 pm

The Bristle Hollow is the training hollow located by the Apprentice's den. Mentors occasionally take their apprentice's to learn how to hunt. This prickly hollow also contains a small stream where apprentices can learn how to fight and hunt in the stream.

The She-wolf padded into the hollow silently, looking around at the few trees that stood overhead. The gurgle of a nearby brook told her that this would probably be a good place to find moss or herbs. She trotted around gazing at the lovely place, when she accidently trotted on a thistle. "Ow!" She yelped, jumping back. Larkpaw bent down and licked her front paw, ridding it of a nasty thorn. When she stood back up and gazed around, she realized, that skirting the hollow around the trees were more thistles. "Looks like I'll have to walk carefully in this Bristly hollow!" She thought, "Hmm, The Bristle Hollow...that's not a bad name. Maybe I'll call it that." Stepping more carefully this time, Lark padded under a large tree next to a brook. She smiled as she noticed fern and moss around the roots of the old tree. "Aha!" Lark kneeled over and began to pick some up. When her mouth was full of the soft, thick plant, she turned and limped up the slope back to camp.

The deputy padded in with quick steps. She looked around at the place with impressed eyes. "This place is actually quite nice-looking...", she thought as she walked over to a thick tree in the hollow. The wolf then cleared up her throat and howled loudly. "Snowstar! Where are you?!", she shouted afterwards. The deputy then ran over to another part of the hollow, but soon felt a pain on the side of one of her legs, and she was sure it wasn't that bone this time, as it already had been inflicting pain the whole way there. This pain was one the other leg. She turned her gaze at the leg, noticing a small cut which probably was done by thorns. "Is it just me, or is this whole territory attacking me?", she asked herself and glared weirdly at the bushes around the hollow. Brokenglare then remembered she wasn't there to glare at thorns, but to find their leader. She padded up to a place between the bushes to avoid thorns and howled again, this time for a longer while.

He walked up to the New leader. He had always had a crush on her and broken knew that. He wanted to get Brokenglare back to camp though. She needed to a point a new deputy. Crookedjaw hoped it was him. "Broken we should start to head back to camp you need to a point a new deputy. As your first act of being a leader"

Brokenglare almost jumped up in the air as she suddenly heard a voice. She quickly recognized the voice of Crookedjaw. "C-crookedjaw?", she asked herself as she turned around. And just as she expected, there he stood. The exact same wolf she hadn't seen in a while. As he started to mention deputy appointments and leadership, she felt a bit annoyed. "For the moment, we're actually searching for our lost leader, Snowstar. She's probably still alive, which means I'm not the leader yet.", she explained and looked around."You could help, you know.", she ended it with.

Crookedjaw was happy that Brokenglare remembered him. "Broeknglare I never got to she you made deputy. What happened to Heatherstar?" He walked closer till they were face to face. He loved the color of her eyes and the way she smiled

Robinpaw had entered the hollow a few minutes after Brokenglare had. Hearing her call, but not being able to decipher it, the red-tinted apprentice had felt a rare spark of panic, his walk turning into a trot as he entered the hollow. "Brokenglare!" He sighed in relief, silently thanking StarClan he hadn't been left for dead as he had feared. "Brokenglare, what's going o-" His call was cut short by a yelp as a sharp pain sliced through his right forearm, causing it to buckle in surprise. He wound up tumbling down the rest of the way, rolling over a few thorn bushes along the way, stopping just left of the tree the two wolves had been standing under moments ago. Wait, two!? Thinking it was just a dizzy hallucination, he sat up off of the rare thorn-free spot he had come to a stop in, blinking a few times to clear his head. Nope, his hazel eyes weren't mistaken: there were two wolves standing directly in front of him. "Wait? Wha...?" He asked, mostly to himself. "Where's the rest of the Clan? Have they gone out on a battle patrol to chase away the invaders? Did they threaten to overrun the camp, and is that why we fled?" A flood of questions escaped the male's jaws, confused as ever.

Crookedjaw ran over to the apprentice. He checked him over and found a thorn. After training as a medicine wolf he learned he needed some herds to get the thorn poison out. He ran off and found the herbs he needed. First he took the thorn out then he put the herds on the wound so it would heel. "All better now where is your mentor?"

Brokenglare stared weirdly at the action happening. The apprentice trotting in a clumsy manner and Crookedjaw moving over to it. As the action happened she had the weirdest of looks spreading over her face, simply saying "What is even going on here?". The deputy quickly cleared it off her mind and walked over to the apprentice. She thought it was weird that it had come alone. Just moments after she had thought about it, Crookedjaw asked the apprentice about it after he was done removing the thorn and applying herbs to the apprentice. She tried to make a warm smile, but wasn't entirely sure how it would look. "Uh, you see, Snowstar went missing and we're all searching for her. As far as I know, there's no attackers here.", she replied to the apprentice. "Nobody knows why Snowstar is missing, though."

Snowtail arrived to see Robinpaw and Crookedjaw with Brokenglare and he offered a small smile. He had a moment of pure gold, he had an idea. "Brokenglare, maybe she went to visit StarClan? Or maybe StarClan can give you hints as to where she is. Right now its the best chance we have; we've scoured the territory for her." He offered up to the deputy as a plausible idea. While yes, every wolf wanted to be deputy, Snowtail wasn't going to do things just for the sake of being deputy, it wasn't his character. He was more of a 'just follow the code' kind of guy.

Snowtail was slightly irritated when Crookedjaw suggested they go to visit StarClan without the man who suggested it in the first place. "I believe I have the right to go too since I thought of this idea in the first place Crookedjaw." He said, his tone full of irritation as he started towards the place where they talked with StarClan. Loyalty to the clan above all else Snowtail, loyalty to the clan. He attempted to reassure himself.

"Well some one needs to keep the camp safe while we are gone. As the code says clan before all else." He kept his stare on Snowtail. In the end Brokenglare would chose what to do.

Snowtail gave a small hiss at Crookedjaw. "There are many able bodies back at camp, and finding Snowstar is a priority. Unless you are suggesting that the other warriors of the clan aren't worthy enough to be warriors, there is no reason I cannot come with you two." He retorted with a slight bit of anger bubbling in his voice. "Brokenglare can decide even if we are going in the first place, and if she'd rather have both of us with her or just one of us." He said, a slight bit of authority in his voice; natural habit.

Crookedjaw walked up to the warrior. He was much bigger than Snowtail and towered over him. "I don't know at you are thinking but I am older than you and wiser it is better to bring two at a time rather than three we don't want to provoke the other clans do we?" He glanced over at Brokenglare.

Did he just tell Snowtail that he was older and wiser? That wasn't right. "I remember when you were born Crookedjaw. The matter of having wisdom isn't by age but how you act. Now if you do not mind, I am going to look for Snowstar in the place I suggested. This is since hurting you would be against the warrior code." He hissed and waltzed off towards The Moon Cave. He hoped that Snowstar was there.

Robinpaw

avatar
Warrior Apprentice
Robinpaw stared after Crookedjaw, a questioning look on the young male’s face. “Thorn…poison?” The warrior had already run off, leaving the apprentice with a cocked head and a mouth that was agape. “Wha…?” Before he had time to react, Crookedjaw had returned, jaws stuffed with sweet and sickly smelling plants. He let out a sharp yelp of pain, the thorn being yanked out of his paw. “Ouch,” he muttered, feeling sticky plant matter being plastered to his paw. “Er, thanks…” he muttered, giving his stinging paw a quick shake. He would still have to go see the Medicine Wolf, however, as this stranger he didn’t trust; he just appears out of nowhere, and Robinpaw had never seen him in his entire life! Brokenglare seemed to know him, however, and there seemed to be some chemistry between the two, especially on Crookedjaw’s end of the rope. However, when Crookedjaw asked where his mentor was, he didn’t know what to say.
“Ah, he’s….back at camp, I think,” he said. This wasn’t entirely a lie; after his apprenticeship, his mentor had fallen ill, and joined StarClan a few days later. He watched as his old mentor was buried near the camp. He still needed a new one, but at a time like this, he didn’t dare ask.
His attention was brought back to Brokenglare suddenly speaking; he had missed her first comment. He could tell by her strange expression, a hybrid of a smile and confusion, that she herself was puzzled as well. As she explained, however, Robinpaw exhaled a sigh of relief. “Oh thank StarClan!” he cried, his body relaxing into a comfortable sink. “Everyone suddenly left camp! I thought we were evacuating, or we were being attacked and a battle patrol had left, or something! I could have swore I believed I was left for dead!” He was now inwardly laughing at his foolishness. This is why you’ve trained yourself to remain calm; panic and worry brings nothing but trouble!
His relief suddenly turned back into his regular state of calmness, however, as he heard the familiar rustling of pawsteps in the dry grass of Leaffall. He turned, and finding that it was Snowtail, he was happy to be reassured that there were no intruders, but disappointed to discover that it wasn’t Snowstar. As the white warrior spoke of the Moon Cave, his red-tinted ears perked up. “The Moon Cave, of course! There’s a good chance that she went there for guidance on something,” he breathed, mostly to himself; he was only an apprentice, after all. He grew concerned over the idea, however, as the mood quickly turned sour. He found himself, and Brokenglare, too, for that matter, caught in the middle of who should escort the deputy to the place of StarClan.
Back and forth it went, and if he had only been a little older his nature would have told him to step in and try to solve this equally. Eventually, the argument ended after Swiftstorm attempted to overpower the male with size and wisdom comparisons, and ultimately failed. Snowtail departed for the Moon Cave, leaving Swiftstorm in the shadow of his honorable words. Feeling the heavy tension in the air, the young Robinpaw felt that what he wanted most right now was to get out of there.
Our efforts are wasted here; Snowstar is obviously somewhere else. It would be best just to go along with the new plan. He debated on whether or not to go back to the camp, but he didn’t think that there would be much for him to do there. And inside, he felt a deep longing to help out; everyone was obviously in distress; he didn’t think he had ever been to meet StarClan before either, as the new location surely was just discovered, and he felt eager to do so. With his mind made up, the mottled brown adolescent made his way away from the hollow, carefully avoiding any thorns; after rolling through all of those bushes earlier, he had plenty stuck in his fur. Keeping the white warrior Snowtail in sight and walking on his three good paws, he began the long, tedious journey to the Moon Cave. He stopped short though, suddenly. What am I doing!? I'm in no shape to travel all that way! And besides, there's two others that will most likely come, and they don't need me to have to worry about. Despite his longing, Robinpaw knew he would only hinder the progress, and so he started to head back to the WindClan camp instead to see if he could get his wounds looked at. However, he veered to the right instead of taking the straight-shot like he did before; he might as well stop by to see how the others were faring.

Brokenglare's ears perked up at the sound of the good idea. She was about to say she would do it, but then the males seemed to have started a discussion about who she would take with her. The deputy stared bluntly at the two while they spoke to each other. As Snowtail mentioned bringing both, she finally opened her mouth to speak. "Well, I guess I would just take both of you, then.", she said and walked a bit towards the camp. "But we should tell the wolves at camp first.", she ended it with. As she walked  towards her destination, a silent breath of relief flew out of her mouth. Her leader-ish tone ended up better than she thought, and the fact that she couldn't really decide was fixed for her, with her still seeming to know what she was doing.

The brute had lead the way to the hollow, picking his way down the small path into the more wooded area. The place reminded him of Thunderclan territory. "I wonder how Lark is doing?" He thought, remembering how his sister had went off with some of his clan mates to see if TC would help them. He hoped that she would stay out of trouble.
A sudden crackle of brambles nearby made him turn. He sniffed the air, but only tasted mouse. "We should probably save strength for the real big prey." He thought, hoping there was something else here besides small prey. He opened his mouth and tasted the air again, this time realizing the distinct scent of Mule-Deer. "Odd, they're usually Sunclan's type of prey," He thought. They crunch of paw steps made him turn, and he spotted Leopardfrost skirting down the hollow towards him

Leopardfrost stopped beside Wrenpaw. He looked around and sniffed the air. "Smelling anything yet?", he questioned Wrenpaw. He could smell something faint, but it wasn't a smell he was used to. Leopardfrost hadn't hunted much in the area before, so he didn't know if it was foreign prey or not.

Wrenpaw nodded and tipped his head. "Mule-Deer." He replied, tasting the air again. "It's fairly fresh too." The male gazed around and flicked his tail in the direction of the scent. "Wanna track it?" He asked the older Warrior. Even though Leopardfrost hadn't been born in Windclan, didn't mean that he didn't have respect the younger wolf's respect.

Leopardfrost nodded back. Apparently the animal he smelled was called mule-deer. Just as he thought, it was not something he usually had hunted. "Yes. We'll hunt it down.", he answered after nodding. The warrior sniffed the air. The scent came from the areas deeper in the hollow, beyond the thorny terrain and flowers. He waited for the apprentice to move on, just as he had done before.
