The Four Clans

Season
Current Season: Greenleaf
Greenleaf has taken hold of the forest, marking an end to the pleasantly warm days of Newleaf. The temperature is now quite hot, at times unbearably so; most prey tend to take shelter during the hottest time of the day. Dangerous thunderstorms are possible and can happen with little warning. Will the heat of Greenleaf cause tempers to flare when tension is already running high in the Clans?

1 The Dire Pond on Sat Nov 02, 2013 7:15 pm

A pond located near camp named after the first leader of SunClan, Direstar. The pond has many herbal plants growing around the edges and has plenty of fish for those who know how to fish.

The masked wolf walked up sniffing through the herbs, her jaws openeand snapped around the stem of some poppies that were still out but dying off. She needed plenty of these as they helped with sleep and pain, well the seeds did anyway. The black splotches around her eyes gave her the look of a mask that explained her suffix mask, she had been named Panda for her markings that made her look much like a panda.

Weedpaw glanced around in a question. It smelled fishy and mossy around the pond. She sat on the rocks, the uncomfortable rocks, and sighed. She turned to Pandamask and stepped over to her. Her big brown paws easily making her way to her. "Ya' need help?" Eariler she had decided to join Pandamask in her expedition for herbs. Weedpaw bent down and sniffed the plant that was once there. Smells like poppies... She blinked her green eyes a bit and turned to Pandamask again. "Thanks fer' taking me out of camp. It feels great out 'ere." She gave a smile and pushed the piece of wheat in her mouth to the side.

(Ugh,short...)

The black and white female glanced up and smiled gently "Thank you for coming with me weedpaw" her attention was caught by the bright yellow flowers of coltsfoot "Weedpaw could you please collect some of the leaves of the yellow flower" she gestured with a black paw at the plant before she returned to collecting the poppies, the seed would be removed from the flower back at camp. For now keeping them in the flower was the best method of keeping them all together, she paused seeing a small bush of Feverfew as well, gently leaving the poppy heads beside the water she moved over to the small green plant that betrayed its self with its tangy scent. With gentle motions she began collecting the leaves, these would help the older wolves during winter, they would soothe the aches and pains and help with any fevers that any sick wolves might get. The sweet natured wolf who had been called by starclan to take the position of medicine wolf during the great journey smiled with personal satisfaction at the small bundle of leaves that she had collected, picking them up and moving them over to where the poppy heads were she sat down and began wrapping them in large beech leaves for transport back to camp.

Weedpaw nodded to the fae as she thanked her back. "No worries. Got nothing to do back at camp, anyways." Weedpaw turned around to look for the flower. Her green eyes xpzsroed in on the yellow flower called coltsfoot, though she didn't know of this. She bent down to stare at the stems. Then her teeth cut them as low as possible to get a lot of the plant. A short snap sounded in her ears as they twitched. She pulled gently and looked up to see Pandamask already wrapping the herbs in a huge leaf. Her nose crinkled at the bitter scent of herbs, and the taste of coltsfoot made her want to gag. She cleared her throat and stepped over to the white fae. "Here ya' go." She said through clenched teeth to try to keep the taste out of her mouth. She smiled to show how comfortable she was, when she really wasn't.

She took the herbs with a murmur of gratitude, she looked up and giggled at the look on the females face "go and drink some water to get the taste out of your mouth" she was used to the bitter taste of herbs. Due to working with the herbs for so long her black and white pelt permanently smelt fresh and herby, swishing her feather like white tail over her heels she finished wrapping up the herbs and picked them up gently her soft doe brown eyes watching the apprentice.

Weedpaw grunted in reply and padded down to the pond. She held her breath till her pink tongue went out and scooped up the water. She swallowed and sighed, not lifting her head from the pond just yet. She lapped again. The taste of moss and fish filled her mouth. She swallowed and cleared her throat. The water was ice cold, but it wasn't frozen yet. Weedpaw shook her head at the thought and turned to join up with Pandamask again. "Need help carryin' those leaves of yours?" She blinked questionably at the older fae.

She shook her head "no thank you Weedpaw, you can go off and enjoy yourself now" she picked up the fragile bundles in her jaws her white tail floated along in the air after her. Moving into a light trot she listened to the sound of the few birds that were remaining, leaf bare was coming and she had been busy these past few days learning where the herbs were and building up stores.

Weedpaw stared after the fae. After a few seconds, she quickly ran after her. The golden piece of wheat in her mouth waved around, and her eyes narrowed as she finally caught up with the fae in her walk. She...Seemes to nice... Weedpaw glanced over to the side in thought. Staring at the lush forest that slowly changed to the rocky terrain that they called home.

The trail ended. It had been growing stronger and stronger, and just when the male thought they were just going to find her, it ended. "Why here?" They were at a pond. It seemed like a pretty place, trees hung down over the edge, though their roots were covered in snow, and small herbs, some bitter, other sweet smelling grew under the protection of these trees. The edge of the pond was frozen, though the ice ended near the center. Wrenpaw sniffed around, wondering if Snowstar was anywhere around here. Still feeling rather anxious for being on another clan's lands, he softly called out. "Snowstar? Are you here?" No response. He twitched an ear and continued to search. The sun was now in the sky, though he noticed the wispy clouds he had seen yesterday, were starting to make a reappearance. "It probably will snow again soon." They would have to find their leader before the snow came, or it might erase their trail all together. The Apprentice trotted over a small rise and froze. "No..." There was something on the shore of the pond, half in the water, fur a clean white. "No Starclan...please don't let it be..." He ran down the slope as fast as he could, and the closer he got, the clearer he could see what it was. No, who it was. "Snowstar."

[Lark]

The She-wolf had ran, trying to keep up with the others Apprentices. Soon the trail had led them to a pond, and Lark began to pad around the area. She heard a gasp from Wren, and turned and limped over to see what was wrong. Her mouth dropped open at what she saw. "S-Snowstar?" She ran as fast as she could to where their leader lay. Wrenpaw stood over her body, eyes staring in disbelief. Lark sniffed Snow's fur and gently bent over to hear her heartbeat, but there was none, and her fur was lifelessly cold and wet. "How...how could this happen?" The Apprentice felt crushed, as if someone had dumped a ton of rocks on her. Lark nosed Snowstar's fur, willing her to get up, to tell that it was ok, but their leader was still. "Starclan, how could you let this happen?"
The dawn light illuminated the wolf's white fur, making it glow in the half-light. And as she peered closer, she realized that there were marks in Snowstar's fur. "Fang marks." The She-wolf began to tremble, blinking amber eyes in disbelief.

[Wren]

Sadness coursed through him, as he watched his sister confirm what he already knew. She was dead. All of the sudden, Lark began to tremble, and he snapped his head up. "What's wrong?" He asked, wondering if she scented danger. "Look at her fur..." She whispered, looking terrified. Confused, Wren turned and gazed at what she was staring at. "No..." Around Snowy's throat were deep marks, that could only be made by a pair of fangs. He immediately crouched down and sniffed the marks, but whoever had done this, their scent had washed away in the pond and snow. "Did Sunclan do this?" She asked, looking in shock and fear. More then anything, the male wanted to deny that, but he wasn't sure what to say. "I-I'm sure it wasn't th-them." He stammered, feeling his throat tighten. "Please Starclan, don't let it be them." He glanced up at Robin.

Warrior Apprentice
Robinpaw had arrived shortly after Wrenpaw and Larkpaw did, but he was already too late; the siblings had already begun the search for Snowstar, and had unfortunately found her. Hopeful that she was still alive, the russety apprentice approached the duo, who were crowded around something by the chilling shore. Only when he was a few tail-lengths from them did he notice what all of the buzz was about. "No," he whispered; the familiar white fae who had once stood tall and proud as the leader of WindClan was now heaped against the ice in a snowy bundle. "No, this can't be." He buried his cream-splashed mussel into the leader's shoulder, which was already turning cold. His attention was drawn to the fang marks on her throat, however, as Larkpaw had pointed them out. He was about to speak, but out of the corner of his hazel eyes, he saw Wrenpaw looking up at him as if for reassurance. "No," he spoke for the third time, but in a different manner as he straightened his arched neck, his body growing rigid. "No, SunClan wouldn't have done this. They may be misfits, but they aren't murderers." He was unaware of Wrenpaw's budding relationship with Weed. Just at that moment, a frosty breeze swept past them, seeming to slice through his pelt and fill him with frost. He just now noticed how much the temperature had dropped. "We should bring Snowstar's body back to camp," Robinpaw started. "It would give the Clan some closure and we could focus on other things, like supporting Brokenglare and helping the Clan land back on its feet again." Another breeze washed over them once more, bringing a few premature mountain snow flurries with it. "And plus its freezing out here!" As he waited for the other apprentices' responces, his mind wandered to Snowstar's injuries. That's strange. There's no blood anywhere on her or around her! She's clean! I wonder how, and why there are teeth punctures on her throat.

Larkpaw sighed, "I really hope your right." She nodded as Robin stated that they should bring Snowy back to camp. "She was such a good leader...and it's not right for such a noble wolf to die like this, maybe even murdered by another clan!" Lark really hoped that Sunclan hadn't killed Snowstar, they seemed like a nice enough clan, and to her, if there was any clan to distrust it seemed like it should be Stormclan. "They do have alot of Rouges and dogs who join though." Whatever was going to happen, their leader must be returned to camp. The She-wolf then padded towards Snowy's body, and gently grabbed her scruff. Wrenpaw did the same also as well as Robinpaw. Together, all three of them carried her to camp.

Fernshade stared at the rippling water. It bounced off the pebbles on the shore. Her dark brown ears twitched as she waited for Pinedusk to arrive. She wasn't very fast, but she somehow beat her brother. Her yellow eyes crinkled as she thought of her father. Direstar, the wolf the pond was named after. She felt conflicted. She missed him, but she felt better once it was in the hands of someone else. Her father had too easily accepted Mossybreeze, who was a murderer apparently. The rumors had reached Sunclan quickly. 'I never really understood him.' The brown deputy wanted to start hunting, so he urged her brother mentally to hurry.

Pinedusk slowed down to a stop as he neared the pond, his red pelt bristling as he caught scent of WindClan. The scent's rather stale... but I wonder why WindClan was on our territory in the first place. And why would they accuse us of what happened to their leader? Pinedusk wondered, letting out a sigh. It doesn't matter now, we can decide what we should do about WindClan later. The warrior thought, his honey brown eyes glancing towards Fernshade. His sister was staring out towards the pond, perhaps in thought or searching for potential prey. "Sorry that I took awhile," Pinedusk started as he padded next to Fernshade. "What did you want to hunt?" He added, glancing towards the pond and the surrounding forest for any signs of prey.

Pinedusk nodded at Fernshade's response, lifting his muzzle to scent for any signs of prey. "Do you think that there'd be any fish in the pond? I remember Ripplestone teaching me a bit about fishing when I was an apprentice." The red warrior said, his voice pausing slightly after he had finished speaking. It seemed that everything had been different when he was an apprentice; Direstar had been there, as well as most of his and Fernshade's siblings, and his mentor. The warrior shook his head slightly, preferring not to think about his kin and mentor before his honey brown eyes turned back to Fernshade. "I'm sure that there's other prey nearby too in case you didn't want to fish." He added, listening to hear his sister's response.

The brash brown deputy shot him a smile, then bounded off in search of the birds.

This time Rune was up for someting... fishy. The honey coated fae appeared infront of a beautiful landscape. A large lake with clear blue water, surrounded by trees, wuch were bared right now but that didn't really bothered the wolf. She trotted over to its coasts and lowered her head a little. The wolf sniffed the water, catching the scent of fish and even being able to see a few in the water. With a smile on her muzzle she rised her head and took a deep breath.
The shew-olf crouched down slowly. She made sure her paws here on one fox-lenght from each other. She held her tail still and ears pinned back. She bared her teeth not giving ut a single noise. Her eyes, shining like marbles, observed the water and waited for a single flash of scales. When they spotted one, it was time for action. Then like an arrow, her head shot right into the water and caught the fish. Her snowy white teeth pierced the crature's flesh as she held tight with her jaws. She rised her head and took a step back from the pond. In few second the fish went limp. 'A successful fishing.' she tought before placeing her prey down.
Rune obsreved the territory carefully, when she spotted two wolves on the other side of the lake. 'The invadors.' she thought and narrowed her eyes, clearly showing her wrath of seing them. However, the fae just sighed and looked at her figh. She lowered her head and took a bite of it.
Rune new that the intruders knew he wa there. Even though the coat of her legs was white, her main was honey brown and in a white landscape with bared trees like this one it would be hard for her to be unspotted. But as it could be noticed, she didn't really care. They were far away from her and she was far away from her. As long as they didn't cross her path she was fine.

Pinedusk nodded at his sister's first words, before nodding once more as Fernshade commented on fishing. "Sure, that's alright with me." The red warrior replied with a smile, turning his muzzle towards the pond after Fernshade had trotted off. Most of the ice had melted from the pond, although the shore was still lined with snowbanks in some areas. Crouching down nearby the water, Pinedusk's honey brown eyes watched intently for any signs of prey. A silvery shadow caught his attention, and Pinedusk plunged forward, his jaws biting down. Resurfacing after a few moments, the wolf coughed slightly and realized that the fish had been able to swim away. Great, I'm sure the Clan will be well fed due to my expert fishing skills. Pinedusk thought in annoyance, shaking his head and stepping back onto the shore. He fluffed out his short fur, wishing that Newleaf would be here more quickly. Looking forward for more fish, Pinedusk blinked, staring out across the pond. Another wolf? I can't really see all the way across the lake; perhaps that's not another wolf after all. Pinedusk thought, blinking once more. His eyes glanced down towards the water, looking up occasionally to be certain that he hadn't noticed a loner or wolf from another Clan. What if that's a WindClanner who's spying on us before they'll lead an attack? Pinedusk couldn't help thinking, not focusing much on fishing.

(I love Pine's saracasim. Pfft.....)

Fernshade heard a few splashes and disregarded them as Pinedusk's attempts at fishing. It had been moons since their apprenticeship, so she doubted he would get one on the first try. She heard another splashing and inwardly sighed, but she went off hunting again. She lowered her jet black nose to the ground. Her nostrils widened as she inhaled deeply. The musky scent of minks were nearby, and the piercing odor of moss and fish made her crinkle her nose. She crouched and quickly stalked across the pebbles, careful not to dislodge any.
Her ears pricked as a few skitters and squeals were exchanged in the reeds. Leaf-bare was slowly loosening it's grasp on the territories. It made her smirk and swipe her pink tongue across her brown muzzle. New-leaf brought new pups and plenty of prey to feed the large amounts of prey. She painstaking padded forward towards the chatters of the minks. She could practically taste them now. Her yellow eyes peered around a large stone and spotted the molting half brown and white mink. She felt herself grow rigid as it lifted it's head from chewing on a small minnow. She just hoped it wouldn't look her way.
The rodent finally chattered again and returned to it's meal. With it's back turn, Fernshade stalked forward. Then she pounced, hardly making a sound, before the squeal erupted from her meal's muzzle as she bit down into it's soft flesh. The ear piercing sound slowly died, also no with the rodent. She lifted her head triumphantly and buried her prey under a small mound of soft soil.
The deputy quickly set off to look for more prey.

[Yeah, I liked Pine's sarcasm in that post as well Smile ]

Pinedusk returned his gaze back to the lake as he saw a few bluish-silver streaks drift by under the water, and he lashed out at the fish with a paw, sighing once more as the fish scattered and swam away. His hunting attempt had been feeble, however, as he continued to think about the wolf that he thought he had seen. If that wolf was a WindClanner..., the red warrior's thoughts trailed away. What would happen if that wolf was a WindClanner? They could report back to Brokenstar with whatever knowledge they had learned from SunClan, such as decent places to hide in wait of battle, or a determination of how many SunClan wolves were actually in the camp. I hope that Gentlestar is able to convince StormCla- Pinedusk let out a yelp as he struck out at a fish yet instead landed in the water once more. Swimming up to the surface, Pinedusk sighed again and swam back to the shore. I can't focus on fishing if I'm thinking at the same time. The warrior thought, shaking his head. He would be sure to keep watch for the potential WindClan wolf, certainly he should, but if he hadn't actually seen a wolf hunting was of most importance at the moment. Sitting down on the shore, Pinedusk perked his ears as he heard the sound of prey being cut short, and he decided that his sister must have caught something. His honey brown eyes turned back to the water as he bent forwards, prepared to strike out at the next fish.

The brown fae stared at the frog as it croaked and leapt into the water. She sighed and trudged onward. Carefully and silently pushing through the reeds. She kept her tail low, and her ears perked. Fernshade opened her maw and inhaled the budding scents of New-Leaf. Her yellow eyes closed as she focused on carefully picking out the prey scent. The sound of crickets and buzzing dragonflies filled her ears, so she focused mostly on her sense of smell. Her ears twitched as she caught something. She crept forward, her jet black nose crinkling. The deputy skunk through the brush and spotted another piece of prey. This time it was an unsuspecting duck that swam in the shallows of the pond. Crouching low to the pebble covers shore, she carefully placed one paw in front of the other. Freezing when the duck gave even one sign it saw her. When she was only a fox length away, she shot forward. Her figure became a water drenched blur as she sank her teeth into the duck's neck, snapping it. She lifted her head, blood dripping from his maw. Her yellow eyes narrowed as a hazy figure filled her vision. 'Is that another wolf...?' She growled and roughly threw her duck to shore as she raced towards the figure. She wasn't about to take any chances.

The red warrior waited beside the pond, his honey brown eyes looking for any signs of fish. An orange flash caught his attention this time; carefully and quickly Pinedusk bent his head down towards the fish as he leaped forwards. Holding it in his jaws, the warrior resurfaced and paddled back towards the shore. He bit down on the fish, feeling it go limp, and set it to the side. At least I caught one fish. Pinedusk thought, wondering if he should continue fishing or hunt for something else. The wolf perked his ears as he heard pawsteps, seeing Fernshade running towards the other side of the lake. Did she see the other wolf too? Pinedusk wondered, blinking. He had started to assume that the wolf he had seen must have just been a reflection in the water, but if Fernshade had noticed something as well.... Glancing towards the fish, Pinedusk carefully picked it up, hiding it under some leaves before bounding off in the direction the deputy had taken.

With a full stomach and a good toning she could wander around the whole territory for days. But that wasn't going to happend, thanks to the stupid flea bags that claimed the lands as their. Speaking of them...
The honey brown fae was spotted and that didn't make her feel pleased at all. Her golden eyes narrowed asshe saw the figures of the wolves getting near by. A sigh came out of her muzzle and she hitted the ground with her tail once, showing her annoyence of the situation that she was going to get in. Yeah, it was a fact that she didn't like them. Yet, she didn't say anything. After all she lived away from them but in secret.
The she-wolf took a few steps away from the lake but did not prepare herself for leaving. Rune wasn't planning to escape or run away. She could face the invadors, despite the fact they were two and she was by herself. That's why, the wolf took one pretty politicant position and waited for then to arrive. 'This will be fun.' she though, knowing how much she loved to deride the clan wolves.
