The Four Clans

Season
Current Season: Greenleaf
Greenleaf has taken hold of the forest, marking an end to the pleasantly warm days of Newleaf. The temperature is now quite hot, at times unbearably so; most prey tend to take shelter during the hottest time of the day. Dangerous thunderstorms are possible and can happen with little warning. Will the heat of Greenleaf cause tempers to flare when tension is already running high in the Clans?

Iceflood stopped once he reached the river, sitting down nearby the shore. He thought that the river would be a good place to train his new apprentice. They could practice swimming, fishing, even water fighting techniques. The forest was nearby too, for hunting forest prey or learning battle moves suited for the woods. I'm still rather surprised that I have an apprentice. He thought that he was a bit too inexperienced, having just earned his warrior name, but if Graystar believed in him then he supposed that there was a reason. He looked up to see if Moonpaw had yet arrived, wondering what they'd work on first.

Iceflood watched as Moonpaw struggled with a large fish; the apprentice was finally able to catch it, and Iceflood nodded approvingly. "Good catch," he said. When he heard more pawsteps he looked up; it appeared that Stormblade had arrived. "Sure," he said at the dog's question. The young warrior watched as Stormblade and Moonpaw began a practice fight; his apprentice seemed to be doing quite well. Stormblade had told Moonpaw of a few moves; Iceflood recalled learning them during his own apprenticeship. Iceflood wasn't really certain what he himself could do at this point, at least not while Stormblade was still teaching his apprentice more battle moves. Besides, he didn't like fighting anyways. "You're doing good, Moonpaw," he decided to say, and returned to watching the two practice fight.

Moonpaw beamed as first Stormblade and then her mentor Iceflood praised her work. Her fluffy tail wagged happily and she pounced at Storms blueish leg that he had used to tapped her head and pounced. She carefully but strongly closed her jaws over the limb and held on with a growl. She started to wriggle her way backwards to pull his leg out so she could unbalance him and knock him over.

The large dog privately sighed with relief when Iceflood said that it was alright for him to help. Now he thought about it Iceflood had never really been into fighting anyway, although he knew the snowy warrior was an excellent fisherwolf. His thoughts distracted him, so when Moonpaw attacked he was unprepared and he soon lost his balance and fell heavily to his side with an oof. The large dog grinned and nodded before saying calmly "Shall we have a go at a real practice fight then? Feel free to come up with your own moves and improve on ones to give them a personal tinge. Makes it harder for your opponent to guess what you're doing" he explained getting back up onto his four paws. He readied himself, deciding that he'd let her attack and he'd defend for a while before testing her defensive moves.

Moonpaw bounced briefly on the spot as she let go of Stromblades leg. She hadn't thought that she would really be able to pull the larger dog off his paws and was happy it had worked. When he suggested a real practise fight she cast a worried look towards Iceflood before nodding. Determination filled her jade green eyes and she lowered her slim, white body down closer to the ground. The apprentice slid forward on light paws as she started to circle her uncle. With a quick move she darted under his belly, sliding on her side to raked her claws over the fur lightly but still hard enough to be felt. She quickly got back to her paws and out from under him. Using one of the attacks he had taught her, Moon latched onto his tail firmly.

Storm was impressed with the young she wolfs speed, the larger dog being more powerful than quick. Feeling the claws under his belly he turned enough to prevent her attack on his tail from hitting accurately instead she latched onto the end of it. His long powerful tail remained still as he turned reaching out a paw to lightly tap her head in a strike using little to none of his actual power not wanting to hurt the white wolf. The strike intended to make her release his tail her sharp little fangs definitely felt by the warrior.

Moonpaw growled when she only got the tip of Stormblades tail in her fangs and she was quick to let go when she got bobbed on the head by his paw. With a strong growl she leapt for his back planning on raking her hind paws down either side of his spine.

The white apprentice had darted around and he hadn't been able to move out of the way intime when he felt her land on his back. He immediately did the simple move of dropping his shoulder and back to the ground. She had limited time to react before his side hit the ground with a satisfying thump, he lay there for a few moments before he was once again back up onto his feet. Now it was his turn to start attacking, wanting her to show case some of her defense moves, even leaping out of the way intime would count.

Moonpaw managed to push off from Stormblades back as he dropped to the ground and rolled. She landed lightly off to the side and swept around. She crouched down low and prepared to spring again. She kept her jade green orbs on Stroms blue body as it rose back up from the ground and her fur fluffed out as she sensed a change in the air around the older warrior.

His eyes glinted as he slipped into an attack crouch, the seasoned warriors body and face not giving away his thoughts or what attack he was going to use. He moved forward swiftly springing at the apprentice aiming to knock into her and pin her down. Once this was accomplished he pinned her down firmly, releasing one of his paws to aim to make a light forepaw slash at the sleek white female.

Moonpaw landed with a thud as Stormblade struck using his larger body to force the slim fae to the ground. When he lifted a forepaw to strike she lashed out at his belly with her hind legs as she twisted her body swiftly to throw him off. Her jade green eyes showed determination as she fought against the skilled warrior who she saw as an uncle.

Iceflood gave a slight nod when he saw the uncertain look Moonpaw gave him, in order to encourage her. "You'll do fine, don't worry," he said. He sat down, watching the moves that Moonpaw tried against Stormblade; she was pretty good at offensive, he thought. Still, just sitting here he felt a bit awkward; should he try to teach Moonpaw some battle moves too? She was his apprentice, after all. He shrugged, and returned to observing the practice fight, taking note of what Moonpaw did well and where they might need to practice.

When her small sharp paws launched up into his belly he could feel his diaphragm squishing underneath her paws and his air forced out of the dogs lungs. he moved off of her gasping for breath for a moment before he regained his breath and this time moved to dash around his teeth gently gripping her by the scruff he began shaking her gently. He didn't want to seriously damage her, it was purely showing her what moves other wolves might use against her in battle.

Moonpaw sucked in a few deep breaths as she clambered to her paws. Before she could attack Stormblade as he tried to recover, the dog had her scruff in his fangs as she was being shaken from side-to-side. Closing her green eyes to slits she let her body become dead weight as she tried to fool the warrior into thinking he had done great damage to her. Moons snowy flanks barlely moved as she took tiny little breaths through her small nose.

Stormblade was fairly certain he'd be gentle, so when she went limp in his grasp he set her down. He'd let the fight continue for a little while longer but would then let Iceflood continue his mentoring. He'd thought that the young warrior was doing pretty well training his first apprentice anyway. His heart sank a little in his wiry furred chest, he had been looking forward to training Thunderpaw but his apprentice had vanished. The large dog, whos lineage included being used as war dogs crouched into a stance awaiting the apprentice return to life.

Moonpaw watched the ground come closer to her head and then she saw Stormblade move away and into an attack stance. Knowing she would have to be quick, the apprentice leapt to her paws and she reared up on her hind-legs. Spreading her paws out wide she batted at the warriors head with first her left paw and then her right swiftly be fore bouncing back out of reach.

He was expecting an attack but he wasn't expecting that one, he used his furry muzzle to thrust the apprentice back after she'd tapped his head. Straightening up he grinned a little  "good job, I'll return you to Iceflood now so he can continue your training" his brown eyes flicked to meet Icefloods blue ones  "You're doing a good job with this little rascal Iceflood" he told the snow coloured warrior kindly. The large dog with his grey hued fur and a kind heart gave the two a warm smile before heading back on his way, he'd go and look for thunderpaw perhaps he'd be able to continue his training with him.

Iceflood watched as the practice fight continued; he thought Moonpaw was doing pretty well. Soon it had finished, and he nodded when he heard Stormblade's words. "Thank you. You're welcome back any time," he called after the warrior. He was somewhat glad that Stormblade had come to teach Moonpaw the fighting techniques. His eyes turned back to his apprentice, wondering what she'd want to work on next. "Do you want to continue with fighting or move on to something new?" he asked her.

Moonpaw beamed as Stormblade praised both her and her mentor before leaving them again. "Bye Stormblade." she called out as the dog disappeared. She bounded over to her mentor and tilted her head thinking about his question. "Could we work on my defensive moves for a little bit more please?" she asked finally looking up at the white warrior hopefully. She didn't feel as confidant as she would like with them and felt like they could use some cleaning up.

[Sorry for the late reply, Moon; would you still like to continue training until your warrior ceremony?]

The white-furred warrior nodded slightly at Moonpaw's question. "Sure, we can," he said. "Did you want me to teach you another move, or would you rather practice out the moves you already know?" he asked her. He hoped that he was a good enough fighter; if Moonpaw was working on her defensive moves, that would mean that he'd have to do the offensive. In his opinion he was better at the former, but he'd try his best to help out his apprentice.

((it's all good and sure thing I would love too))

Moonpaw hummed as she thought about it. Deciding that expanding her moves would be a good idea as she could always practice with the other warriors and apprentices back at camp, she looked up at her mentor. "Could you teach me a new one please Iceflood?" she asked hopefully. The White fae wondered just what defensive move her mentor would teach her.

Iceflood gave a small nod at Moonpaw's question. "Sure." He tried to think back to all the moves Opalwing and Lunalight had taught him, before finally settling on one that seemed like it would be a good one to teach. "Okay. This move is called the Duck and Twist. It's as its name implies; first you duck down, and then twist, roll over onto your back and get back up to your paws. You can use this move to avoid an opponent's blow. I'll come at you, and you try to do the move. Is that good with you?" he asked. He waited for her response before taking a few steps back. He paused for a few moments more, and then charged forward toward Moonpaw; he hoped that his apprentice would successfully accomplish the move in time.
